Lottie Mac’s work explores the colonisation of the Irish language and broader questions of mother tongue, identity and cultural memory. Emerging from this research, her practice considers how typography, landscape and form can act as alternative carriers of language and memory. These ideas were further shaped by the cultural and political shifts surrounding Brexit, which reignited conversations around borders and belonging.
